As for the hand mirror, Medusa, it is a tribute to the Gorgon who can’t look at herself in a mirror for fear she should die. Medusa results from an octopus moulding. This interpretation symbolizes the «성형 괴물» (seong-hyeong goemul) “Monster of plastic surgery” – as some people who have been through a
lot of surgery are sometimes called in South Korea. The numerous tentacles also remind us of Medusa‘s entangled hair.
