About

Glenda Garcia is a fashion designer, born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. She grew up with a large extended family of engineers and designers.

At 18 she attained a diploma for Foundation in Arts and Design with a focus on textiles at Central Saint Martins in London before continuing her studies

...

and graduating from Parsons School of Design in New York with a BFA in Fashion Design. During her studies she was rewarded a scholarship from being a runner-up in the 2016 CFDA/Teen Vogue Scholarship in Partnership with Target. Since moving to New York she has interned and worked for Proenza Schouler and Public School.

As an observer and introvert that is deeply aware of her own thoughts and habits in the context of her surroundings, Glenda designs with those experiences in mind. Function and utility are the main emphasis in her approach to designing and creating. Silhouettes built from structural and clean lines with a play on classical construction serves as a clean canvas for her to place intricate details in the forms of textures, closures and trims that she aims would pleasantly disrupt the mundane habits of dressing.

Her work can be seen at www.glendagarcia.co and on instagram @glendagarcia.co
