My project revolves around a natural phenomenon called “Polar nights”, this phenomenon occurs in the arctic boundaries when the nights last more than 24 hours. The closer to the North Pole, the more polar nights there are. A polar night can spread over 179 days in a row.
In my childhood I experie
nced in Murmansk (Russia’s northern peninsula near Finland) the polar night that lasted 44 days.
Out of memories of the wild, snowy and mystical nature, I created a world immersed in silence that reveals its cold and gloomy and yet soft and romantic beauty. Those sights carry another dimension of nature, pagan and spiritual, in which any living thing goes on a cosmic journey until the darkness passes.
