Mona Hatoum

Ada Louise Huxtable Prize

Mona Hatoum has been awarded the Ada Louise Huxtable Prize for Contribution to Architecture 2022 as part of the W Awards series.
Mona Hatoum is a British artist who was born in 1952 into a Palestinian family exiled in Lebanon. She has been creating works for more than three decades which ask us to re-see the world, re-understand notions of territory, fragility, humanity, scale and power. In a world fractured by conflict and exile, the work of Mona Hatoum only gains further relevance and importance. Turning familiar objects into uncanny experiences, she makes visible human fragility and spatial violence.
