Pierre Charrié
Eyes on Talents member, Pierre Charrié, took part in the Edo Tokyo Kirari - Quand le design français inspire l’artisanat japonais exhibition at the Galerie des Ateliers de Paris earlier this year. Since 2021, the Edo Tokyo Kirari program has brought together French designers and Japanese manufacturers to reinterpret traditional Japanese know-how. This retrospective exhibition unveiled the flagship pieces resulting from this unique collaboration. Pierre Charrié presented his Re-Taïko stools created with Miyamoto Unosuke, a Tokyo company specialized in making drums and other musical instruments as well as traditional portable shrines and festival equipment. During the wood drying process, some barrels split and can no longer be used to make musical instruments. Re-Taïko gives them a new life by transforming them into seats whose characteristic shapes follow the curves of the body.
Pierre Charrié is a French designer who lives and works in Paris. His work is characterised by a unique sensory approach to design and the use of natural materials, which he combines with both innovative and traditional techniques used by the craftspeople he meets.
