dach&zephir

Eyes on Talents member, dach&zephir, presents simé grenn [sowing seeds], at the Cité du design de Saint-Étienne, a testimonial and love letter to the stories of the French Caribbean (Guadeloupe and Martinique). The exhibition reveals the singularity of the approach developed by the duo since 2015 to put the vibrant Creole cultures on the map of French design history. Readily accepting the Other within the creative process, their projects give shape to the words and stories of Creole communities, to voices that are little heard and recognized. In doing so, they celebrate the urgent and necessary diversity of the World. Here, French design in the age of creolization suggests the creation of a rich, shared narrative of knowledge and heritage. A design of relationships, embracing the plurality of cultural and creative histories of a France that is not limited to the Hexagon.
The dach&zephir duo, formed by Florian Dach and Dimitri Zephir, is conceived as a space for free creation. Their lives - rooted in Paris and Guadeloupe - come together in a search for what makes up history and identity. Cultural heritage is approached as a rich raw material for design, capable of generating a language of forms, materials and uses at the origin of artefacts.
