Cédric Breisacher

Eyes on Talents member, Cédric Breisacher, has collaborated with Valentine Maurice to create the Eclipse Lamp, a walnut mirror lamp incorporating a mechanical brass system to diffuse the light source. Cédric Breisacher, a designer-sculptor specialising in solid wood furniture, and Valentine Maurice, a designer specialising in the impact of light on circadian rhythms, decided to combine their two worlds, the organic and the mechanical, to create the Eclipse Lamp. "Using a principle of mirror reflection, the lamp creates a crescent moon through its lighting, materialising the surface of the brass disc through the light. This light reveals microscopic flaws, invisible to the naked eye but very much there. It acts like a magnifying glass on the visible surface, allowing us to reconsider our relationship with the world," explains Cédric Breisacher.
A JAD resident since September 2022, Cédric Breisacher is continuing his local and circular approach and developing his research into the reuse of wood shavings. Using mainly hand tools, his body becomes part of his sculptural process, the tool acting as a mediator in the relationship between man and material, and his mark as a testimony to the present.
