Baptiste Meyniel

Eyes on Talents member, Baptiste Meyniel, is taking part in the group show Des designers du JAD dialoguent avec la collection Albers-Honegger at the Espace de l'Art Concret. The JAD – Jardin des métiers d’Art et du Design is a place of creation and encounters, promoting exchange between craftspeople and designers. Baptiste Meyniel and other residents were invited to immerse themselves in the concrete art collection, selecting works with which they felt a connection. Next to a chair by Donald Judd is a series of swept drawings by Baptiste Meyniel entitled Deformed Cylinders, produced during a residency at the Cirva in Marseille. Further on, one of his latest collaborations, Nested Lamps, a fusion of heliogravure and contemporary design, created in partnership with JAD resident Marie Levoyet.
Baptiste Meyniel is a French industrial designer whose practice explores the tenuous relationship between drawing and the object, focusing on gesture as the graphic act that leads to the object. A JAD resident since September 2022, he sees it as a formidable opportunity to discover new horizons. "What interests me is what emerges from the dialogue between the craftspeople's mastery of their skills and the generalist nature of my approach, which questions the forms, tools, gestures and materials they use." explains Baptiste.
