Edgar Jayet

Eyes on Talents member, Edgar Jayet, co-curated and took part in the GSL Gallery's inaugural exhibition, Le Salon de Septembre, which closed last week in a former factory north of Paris. Celebrating contemporary creatives who respect the design traditions of the past, The Guild of Saint Luke, the creative collective that runs the new gallery, wanted to highlight the fact that traditional design techniques are still very much alive. Embodying this philosophy, Edgar Jayet presented his creation Faudesteuil, a transportable and foldable stool made of solid silver thread passementerie and raw aluminium, inspired by the Middle Ages and their nomadic furniture. Gradually disappearing in favour of ornamentation, passementerie originally had a structural role that the designer wanted to bring back to the fore, while respecting a know-how that has been perpetuated for several centuries.
Edgar Jayet is a designer, interior architect and scenographer, co-winner of the Grand Prix Design Parade Toulon Van Cleef & Arpels 2021, and a graduate of École Camondo.
