Talia Byre
Eyes on Talents member, Talia Byre, held her third ever runway show at Tenderbooks in Covent Garden for an intimate audience of less than 30 people. Titled "Don’t Think Twice" an ode to Joan Baez’s cover of Bob Dylan’s 1963 folk track, Byre's SS24 had a light-hearted feel, inspired by the women in her life. Striped poplin button-down shirts were reimagined as minidresses or as separates with power shoulders. There was also a blue minidress, a pair of sheer knit capri pants covered in spots and patterned socks rolled thickly over matching heels. The young designer referenced Annie Besant’s 1905 book, Thought-Forms, on theosophical color mysticism to chose empowering colors and create wearable talismanic pieces.
Central Saint Martins graduate Talia Lipkin-Connor first started the brand from her Manchester home, taking cues from her family’s long history in the fashion industry to create a line of distinctive womenswear staples upgraded by care-driven experimentation. The label’s collaged knitwear is hand-built with deadstock fabric before being hand-dyed using natural materials to achieve eye-catching colors.
