Shahar Livne

Eyes on Talents member, Shahar Livne, is an award-winning conceptual material designer from Israel, based in Eindhoven. In 2018 she founded her studio and has since collaborated with brands and institutes, her work is regularly exhibited in international museums. Shahar Livne's project, Metamorphism, reconsiders our perspective to plastic by envisioning it as a new natural material in the ecology of the Earth. To a certain extent, this scenario is already in effect. In 2014, researchers discovered rocks on Hawaiian beaches that were formed by both sand and plastic waste. Her work addresses this by artificially geomimicing metamorphisms as a design tool, creating a speculative material: the lithoplast, mined from the future ecology of the earth.
