Marguerite Bornhauser
Eyes on Talents member, Marguerite Bornhauser, exhibits her Retour à la poussière [Back to dust] series until November 5 at the Musée départemental Arles antique as part of Les Rencontres d'Arles. What passes through the ages, what returns to dust? Marguerite Bornhauser explored this question within the framework of the Verrerie archaeological dig, in Arles, thanks to the Musée départemental Arles antique and the Institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives. In a confrontation with time, the artist plays with scale, projecting an archaeological fragment of a few centimeters onto a background evoking the immensity of a cloud of constellations. Marguerite Bornhauser's series immerses us in color and material, the fragments are haloed by a cloud of stars, like a return to infinity, to dust.
After studying literature and journalism, Marguerite Bornhauser entered the École nationale supérieure de la photographie – Arles, graduating in 2015. In 2021, the Grand Palais gave her carte blanche to observe the 4 years of its restoration project, a work which will result in a publication as well as an exhibition.
