Cynthia Mai Ammann

Eyes on Talents member, Cynthia Mai Ammann, is one of the artists of the new generation of European photographers to exhibit at the Circulation(s) festival, from March 25 to May 21, 2023, at the CENTQUATRE-PARIS. Her series, "Floating View", is an immersive exploration of Vietnam's economic capital and her mother's hometown, Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). Cynthia went to meet the Vietnamese youth of the city to establish a parallel between the megacity which is growing very quickly from an economic point of view and the youth which remains in melancholy. Moving from futuristic perspectives to strange flaws in an altered reality, the city emerges to dissolve again. While the city of Saigon seems to float between two forms, "Floating View" reveals a personal reflection on the megacities of tomorrow.
Cynthia Mai Ammann (1993) lives and works in Switzerland. She graduated from the Vevey School of Photography in 2016 and from ECAL in 2019. Through storytelling, her work has a poetic approach that oscillates between fiction and documentary. She constructs her images with particular attention to emotions such as melancholy, vulnerability and tenderness.
