Premiere Classe x Eyes on Talents
Prize Finalists
For its second edition, the Premiere Classe x Eyes on Talents Prize brought together around fifty candidates wishing to present their creations and innovations around the theme “2022, new horizons”. Alice Le Ster, Michelle Lowe-Holder, Joanne Guiraud, Tatjana Haupt, Emily Robson and Alice Wood are the six finalists shortlisted by the jury, which also awarded a special mention to Ann Ong. Their projects will be presented during Premiere Classe from September 30 to October 3, 2022. The winner will be announced on October 2, 2022 during the closing ceremony of Premiere Classe during PFW.

International Chapter Architecture Medallion
A dynamic ribbon-like pedestrian bridge connecting two provinces in China has been awarded the International Chapter Architecture Medallion at this year’s Australian Institute of Architects International Chapter Architecture Awards. Brearley Architects + Urbanists (BAU) designed the Yuandang Bridge, a 586m walking and cycling bridge, taking inspiration from local sculptural traditions and contemporary mathematics. In awarding the Medallion, the jury highlighted the structure’s beauty and delightfulness in its eloquent connection between two shores.

Prix Fabuleuse Signature
For its first edition, the Prix Fabuleuse Signature rewarded, Goni Shifron, an Israeli artist who has chosen France to live her artistic vocation. Goni Shifron's work situated between performance and sculptural installation leads her to question the notions of territory and identity in permanent resonance with the landscapes of her childhood. The jury was particularly sensitive to the depth of the reflection aroused by these rapprochements between deserts, closing of borders, emigration, poverty, which leads to a work freed from the constraints that nourish it.

Ellsworth Kelly Award
The New York–based Foundation for Contemporary Arts (FCA) has given its 2022 Ellsworth Kelly Award, which supports an institution in realizing a solo exhibition for a contemporary artist, to the Frist Art Museum in Nashville. The Frist will use the grant money to mount a show in 2024 for Iranian-born artist Shahpour Pouyan, marking his first solo presentation in the United States. In a statement, Frist senior curator Trinita Kennedy said, "Pouyan’s work is astonishing for its intense beauty, sophistication, and virtuosity. While his art is political, Pouyan never announces his agenda, leaving the door open for dialogue and understanding."

Golden Bee Award
The Dutch Pavilion designed by Studio Ossidiana has won the Golden Bee Award at the XXIII Triennale di Milano. The pavilion has been commissioned by Het Nieuwe Instituut, the Netherlands’ Museum for Architecture, Design and Digital Culture. Entitled Have we met? humans and non-humans on common ground, the Dutch Pavilion promotes new ways for understanding our planet as a shared space for plants, microbes, humans and other animals. The view that the earth exists solely for human exploitation must be radically rethought to confront today’s environmental crises. Have we met? therefore examines what attitudes, tools and technologies are necessary to recalibrate the relationship between humans and non-humans.

This year, the Prix artmonte-carlo – F.P.Journe, which rewards the best exhibition of the fair, was awarded to Florentine and Alexandre Lamarche-Ovize, represented by the galerie laurent godin, for their ceramic dolls. Florentine and Alexandre Lamarche-Ovize, born in 1978 and 1980 respectively, live and work in Aubervilliers. Their practice mixes drawing and ceramics in the form of a visual language that reinvents and questions the academic subjects of art and its genres.

FRONT Art Futures Fellowship
FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art announced the inaugural recipients of the Art Futures Fellowship. They are: Amanda D. King, Antwoine Washington, Charmaine Spencer and Erykah Townsend. FRONT is introducing a three-year Art Futures Fellowship program for emerging Northeast Ohio-based visual artists of color (Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and Asian American Pacific Islander) that will provide significant and sustained financial and professional support for career development and opportunity.
