Hi, My name is Violetta Brusa, Italian designer living in London, actually FREELANCING DESING + DEVELOPMENT for luxury handbags, jewellery and shoes.
My latest perm role was as head of accessories at Ralph and Russo, 2014 / 2018, designing and developing the iconic jewellery heel and bags range bas
ed on a Eden concept translated into metal bejewelled flower / three details, made in Italy with the high end artisans ateliers in Italy.
Since the last 10 years I have been working within Richemont Group, Montblanc ( 7 years ) as senior designer for Men and Women s leather goods and jewellery.
Then I had the opportunity to be called from Rick Owens, to boost his leather goods and accessory line, and It was an exciting professional and personal experience, as he is a master of fashion codes and has a unique vision on architecture/art and luxury.
After couple of years designing for Rick Owens and DRKSHDWS, I ve been approached by Givenchy, and I accepted their job offer, in the Women Leather Goods team.
In Givenchy I got the chance to see the marketing strategy behind a big fashion brand that make the 80% of their business with women leather goods, so it was very interesting to see how a successful product is built being behind the scene.
My most important experience it still remain Montblanc, where I worked within the development team and the manufactures of Leather Goods, Writing Instruments, High jewellery maker, stone suppliers, leather and fabric supplier, a whole network related to Luxury.
So there, I learnt how to design a luxury goods, with the attention on the details / manufacture and the selection of the highest quality/suppliers of exotic skins and the best leather tanneries.
Luxury is a matter of detail / manufacture and sense of proportion.
That I learnt during all these years within Richemont Group, since the Creative Accademy in Milan, where I had the opportunity of attending lectures from different CEOs ( Lancel, Van Cleef, Cartier, Dunhill, Shangai Tang ) and working directly on projects for them for watches, jewellery and leather goods or visual merchandising / boutique lay out.
My school background, Product Design / Architecture at Politecnico of Milan, trained me on product design and ergonomic in general.
And gave me the bases for on art and architecture that I always use as inspirations today. And most of all, the project / the idea behind the product, the target related to the final user / customer, the production price, the competitors and the industrial phases of production.
Today I am working for an Haute Couture brand, that is an important luxury hub in London, related to a specific middle east clientele, I design for them bespoke shoes or exclusive clutches, and we sell small collection of these accessories in Harrods as well, and very soon in 6 new boutiques.
Finally I can say that my creative mind is divided into 2 parts:
i love to design very feminine and sexy products ( Ralph and Russo FAN SHOES ) and on the other side I enjoy designing very minimalistic and pure objects ( Rick Owens, Leather goods collection ) where the masculinity kick is very enhanced even on a ladies accessory.
