be possible.
Trained in fashion & art histories at London’s Central Saint Martins with an awarded world-class masters degree in history of design jointly taught by the Royal College of Art and Victoria & Albert Museum, in London, I have specialised in modern design and art histories, theory and curatorial. As a student and researcher at the V&A, I had the opportunity to utilise the museum's collections for research purposes, focusing on historiography, craft, design, material culture, decorative arts and object-handling, concluding the programme by producing a thesis on the works by the Brazilian modernist artist, performer (1956 New Look, São Paulo), designer, architect Flávio de Carvalho.
During these eight years of rigorous academic and institutional experience through my higher-education, and beyond, I have accumulated valuable experience collaborating with Christie's as a project researcher where I catalogued the wardrobe of Isabella Blow, as well as journalistic contributions to Harper's Bazaar Brasil, as the magazine’s London correspondent, Vogue Brasil and other publications, as well as research/curatorial-related collaborations with the V&A and MoMu.
In addition to my experience and qualifications listed above, I have developed throughout the last fifteen years, a solid and diverse career in the luxury goods & lifestyle industries across sales, buying, marketing, communications, digital, brand/creative development and strategy. Contributing to and learning from global luxury brands such as Tod’s, Marni, Celine, Christian Louboutin, Swash London, and others, I have acquired excellent creative and business experience and perspective. Achieving and delivering on effective results across all the areas above while acquiring a particular flair for communications, brand/creative development, marketing, strategy, and client-liaison.
More recently, I have been working with greater focus on modern and contemporary art and design, through my own digital media & consultancy platform, EB, which is dedicated to the fields of art, design, culture, luxury and lifestyle (www.evertonbarreiro.com). Having engaged in small and medium-size consultancy projects, I have provided consulting services across sales, communications, marketing, brand development, and curatorial strategies, in collaboration with contemporary artists, designers and independent brands. The art projects that I have been involved with have recently received institutional support from museums internationally. Throughout last year, I have liaised and collaborated with artists, designers, curators, galleries, foundations, museums, art-collectors, art/ design fairs and brands (Masterpiece London, Frieze, London Design Festival, the Whitechapel Gallery, the V&A and London Art Fair), whilst expanding on my network of international contacts.
After 15 years residing, studying and working in London, I’m now planning on relocating to Paris or Switzerland, seeking new personal and cultural experiences whilst developing my career further in the luxury/lifestyle, creative and arts sectors. Given my international cultural and professional profile, flair and experience across these industries, I’m confident that would bring in a holistic 360 degree-approach and dynamism to any relevant commercial role, while improving on my French. I would be very grateful indeed if I would possibly count on your expertise and contacts that could lead me to the right commercial opportunity across any of these industries. I would represent any employer as a true ambassador with a highly engaging modus operandi, while learning from and contributing to any team, with passion, great motivation and commitment. Many thanks in-advance.
Yours sincerely,
