Xiaotong (Elissa) is a London based Chinese-Mongolian knitted textile artist, who explores the problem of cultural erasure under the context of globalisation. She creates knitted sculptures by combining unconventional textiles materials with knitting. She intends to raise the audience’s awareness of
the loss of cultural diversity by telling her stories and experiences in her work.
Xiaotong(Elissa) graduated from RCA and majored in Knitted textiles, her work mainly exploring the impact of Globalisation on cultural diversity by telling her experiences of being a minority. She works under gallery context and she is good at using unconventional materials combine with knitting.
Working with designer on samples of a orange jumper; responsible for making samples.
Independently making a knitted stripe dress which will be sale in Selfridges.
