Hailing from Stockholm but currently based in London, I am a 2019 Master graduate from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. After a silent New York Fashion Week, shorter than ever and in which we have seen Ella Emhoff walking for Proenza Schouler, after signing with the prestigious model agency IMG, today London Fashion Week kicks off. The great appointment with emerging talent and the freshest and most transgressive prop
osals, as shown in its previous edition, held entirely in digital format which met the expectations. A calendar in which fashion shows alternate with proposals that combine music, art, theatre, and a myriad of creative disciplines that claim the cultural role of fashion, far beyond aesthetics and good taste. In short, a fashion week adapted to the new times that does not fear to talk about politics, social demands, and gender, among other issues.

Scattered around the 19th-century monument Schelde Vrij in Antwerp, the top floor studio flats are permeated with harsh sunlight. This is where you will find the Fashion Department students of the Royal Academy of the Fine Arts working on their unapologetically experimental garments; designs that onl
y Antwerp’s slight geographical disconnection from the ‘real world of fashion’ would permit to dream up. They come from all over the world and create to disturb; for humans, aliens, and monsters. Meet Sensen Lii, Linus Leonardsson, Florentina Leitner, Quinten Mestdagh,Yentsé Yanze Jin, Fedor Diakonov, Izzy Du: the new generation of fashion designers from the Royal Academy of the Fine Arts, Antwerp.
