sad is a work aiming to recreate the anxiety that social
networks like Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok,
Snapchat or else can trigger by using screen
recordings of the iPhone in a very narrow space,
with sound and images playing with the brain.
We’ve been on social networks for more than a
decade now and
already we see how it can affect
people. From recommended content by algorithms
to body image perception, the length the
developer of these apps have been for making us
stay online are amazing, and scary. The more time
you spend on the apps, the more content you see,
the more advertising you consume. Problem is that
this engagement with sensitive topics can lead to
« fights » between users and cyberbullying. Body
dysmorphia is one of the main problem with social
networks, especially with the younger generations.
Teenagers go to surgeons asking for « Russian
lips » or « Open eyes » surgery because that’s what
they see on their screens. We are one these
networks because everybody uses them. They are
not only entertainment anymore but tools we use
for work, that we need to be on if we want to exist
in our field of activity.
